WECT TV6 Work

During the summer of '11 Emily worked at WECT TV6  in Wilmington, NC.  She spent her internship working mostly as a videographer and writer. Emily worked with reporters daily, shooting and editing their stories for air. She also helped write for newscasts, the WECT website and twitter page. 

Man Caught in Hole Gets out Alive

This is a follow-up story Emily shot and edited for reporter Craig Reck.  She wrote and edited her own version at the end of the day.  It is a follow-up piece about a man who got caught inside a hole in the ground while digging for old collectable bottles. 

Kure Beach Considers Paid Parking

This beach town is the only one with free parking available, except now it's city council was considering the possibility of charging for it.  Emily pitched the story idea, set up and did the interview and wrote this version.  She went out with a photog who shot and edited the video. 

Catching Copper Thieves

Copper thieves hit an electric company by stealing copper off its power poles and out of its electrical substations.  Emily shot and edited this story for reporter Veronica Macias.  This is her version of the report.  

Smoke Reaches Carolina Coast

Wild fires burned all summer and the smoke made its way to the coast startling visitors and locals. Emily shot and edited this piece for reporter Kristy Etheridge, using some file video of the forest fires. Watch her version of the story to the right. 

Theaters to Open on Same Road

Carmike Cinema's announced it planned to build and open a new movie theater by next summer; however, another developer was promising a movie theater just blocks away.  Emily shot and edited this report for reporter Lindsay Curtain.  Here's her take on the piece. 

Drowning at Southport Pier Folo

A man drowned after jumping off the Southport Pier due to the strong currents.  Emily looked into why there weren't any signs warning swimmers about the dangerous waters in this follow-up piece. She shot and edited this story for reporter Kristy Etheridge and it aired in the evening newscast. Emily incorporated file video of the search from the day before. 

Fire Threatens Homes in Bladen

One of the wild fires barely missed this home in Bladen County.  Emily shot and edited this story for reporter Craig Reck.  It aired in the evening newscast.
